Moorside Hereford Cattle are accredited for both Johnes disease & BVD.
We also vaccinate for BVD to reduce the risk if it ever managed to get in.
We vaccinate against Lepto as we also keep sheep, as sheep can carry cattle Lepto.
We vaccinate show animals with IBR Marker vaccine to reduce the risk of bringing it home. Marker vaccine is distinguishable from disease virus on blood tests.
We are also in a 4yr TB testing area. We are in a 1yr 3km zone a few years ago, but there were no other cases found apart from the original bought in case (not on this farm). So all cattle in the locality have been thoroughly tested. We have never seen any badgers either or sets.
